My Simple Woman's Daybook Entry: 12/11/2011

Outside my window...the sun is shining bright but I know how deceiving that is! The temperature right now is 22 degrees!

I am's time to go let the girls out of the coop but I don't wanna go out in the cold!

I am wearing...MANY LAYERS!

I am creating...lots of stuff for the children's classes at the upcoming Hanukkah Conference. FUN!

I am visit a dear sister-friend today who has not been feeling well. Looking forward to some good fellowship.

I am reading...The Penny by Joyce Meyer

I am praying...for grace and strength to walk through this particular trial my family is going through.

I am looking forward to...a weekend of fun, fellowship and worship at the Hanukkah Conference!

I am hearing...the obnoxious tick-tock of my clock's second hand. It's on the wall right above my head and it's driving me nuts!

Around the house today...laundry MUST be done and vaccumming must occur!

One of my favorite things...Warm coffee with french vanilla creamer

A few plans for this week...going to my friend Yvette's house for crafting fun on Tuesday. Can't wait!!!

Pondering these words..."If it doesn't kill you, you'll live." (words of wisdom straight from the mouth of my 14 year old son)

Seasons go...and Seasons come

It's the little things that make me happy...REALLY. I have an older (brown egg laying) hen that stopped laying several months ago. I just figured her season was over, time had marched on. Much to my surprise, the last two days I've found a beautiful brown egg nestled in among all the white ones! I'm not sure why it makes me so happy really. Maybe just because it stands out so prettily among the plain white ones or maybe it's the thought that sometimes when you think a season is over, it's really not. Sometimes seasons come back around!

Isn't it pretty?
So, if you've been lamenting a particular "season gone-by" in your life, don't give up...your brown egg might just show up one day!

Some of my girls. The brown one is the happy brown-egg layer.

Winter Arrived Early

So I've changed blog designs AGAIN! I'm allowed, right?!

Actually I had no intention of changing so soon but upon awaking this morning, I discovered Old Man Winter paid us a visit WAY TOO EARLY this year. The ground (and my deck) is covered with a blanket of frost. This made my morning treck out to the chicken coop a little more exciting and had me moving a bit slower so I didn't slip and fall.

This is definitely my least favorite time of year. I don't like the cold, I don't like the mess of snow and ice, and I truly hate driving in wintry conditions. I used to so dread winter as it would approach (and I still do to be honest) but this year I'm trying to see it as a "character stretcher". It's so easy to practice being content in all circumstances when things are rolling right along as I like them. Wintertime is my time to put the commandment of being content in all circumstances to practice.

Phillipians 4:11 "Not that I speak from want, for I have learned to be content in whatever circumstances I am."
