Oh, How He Loves Us!

I'm always amazed when the Heavenly Father gets involved in the nitty gritty details of my life. I don't know my head I KNOW and truly BELIEVE that He is a relational God who is all about having a personal relationship with each of His's just that there are days when I can't imagine Him really having the time for little ole me. And yes, I KNOW in my head that that statement right there is a lie whispered to me by the enemy but some days he's just so convincing. Anyone else ever have days like that?

Well, on the off chance that one of you *might* be having a day like that today I wanted to share with you a letter I wrote to a dear friend a while back. In the letter you'll see that I was having "A MOMENT", but the best thing you'll see is how my dear Abba reached down and spoke my love language to me at JUST the right time. I hope it encourages you and brings to mind those times when He has done the same for you.

I've changed the names in the letter to spare any embarrassment; this particular friend of mine is one of the humblest ladies I know and she would DIE to see her name on the internet.

Dear Friend –
I had to just drop everything I was doing and write this note to you before it slipped my mind. What just happened to me is just that good; and as you had such a part to play in it here goes…
I’ve been having a “not so good day”. One of those “I’m feeling very under-appreciated by everyone in my family” days…but especially by my husband and had, in fact, just gotten off the phone with him going into great detail about how I was feeling. I’ll spare you the nitty-gritty details but suffice it to say I wasn’t feeling very good about myself, my marriage, my life in general when I hung up the phone. A real rip-roaring pity party!
Within minutes of hanging up the phone I spied out of the corner of my eye the beautiful turquoise bag you and  (deleted name) gifted me and I realized that I had never unpacked all my goodies. (I confess this part to you hesitantly at first, because it makes me seem very ungrateful that here it is THURSDAY and I hadn’t even unpacked everything yet. However, as the story unfolds you will see it was VERY much a Yah-thing.)
So anyway, I brought the bag over to the couch and very leisurely started unpacking the goodies, taking my time to smell everything  and even applying some of the delicious lavender hand lotion when all of the sudden I spied the two cards at the bottom of the bag and it HIT ME! I never opened the cards when I got home on Saturday! If you could have only seen my face at that very moment…what had just before been a face of, I’m sure, downcast sadness, suddenly turned into joyful glee that I had two cards from such dear sisters waiting to be opened. And because of WHO they were from, I knew I would not be disappointed in the deliciousness of what I was about to read. (Seriously, I get that excited when I get a card in the mail with your return address on it. I just KNOW I’ll walk a little lighter and stand up a bit straighter after reading whatever is inside.)
Before even being able to rip them open the thought dropped on me that Abba loves me! HE KNEW that on Thursday afternoon, around 4:30 PM I would be despairing a bit and totally planned it so I would not read those cards until JUST NOW! HE AMAZES ME! His mercy and His goodness…His tenderness in knowing JUST what would make me feel His love. And the fact that He does it over and over through you and your cards/words to me. (Dear Friend), you hold a place in my heart that is bigger than I can describe with the written word. Your commitment to being my friend, my encourager, my prayer warrior, my sister…it speaks Abba’s love to me in ways that can’t be described in this world with our human language. One day, dear one, we will have a language that will adequately describe what I’m feeling right now…thank you for being obedient to Him and in doing so giving me a glimpse of what we have to look forward to!
So, anyway, I’m totally ready to pick myself up, dust myself off and keep right on serving my family with a servant’s heart (instead of the “why do I do everything around here with nothing in return” heart that I had about 30 minutes ago!).

1000 Page Views!

Surely in blogland this is cause for some sort of celebration! It is in my little world, at least! Now, if I can just convince some of you "viewers" to become actual "followers"... ;-)

'Course, I know it's mostly my fault because I've been such a SPORADIC blogger! But I'm really, reeeeaaally trying to change that. In fact, as a result of today's post I've now reached that blogger goal of a post TWO DAYS IN A ROW!!! Yay me!

Happy Monday to everyone. Come on back never know, there might actually be a post!

Another Never Ending Card

These things are just so fun! Fun to make, fun to give. I LOVE watching people's faces when they receive them. I've yet to see anyone hold one and play with it and NOT smile. And making people smile is kinda what I live for so these cards are RIGHT up my alley.

Here's one I made for a dear friend's birthday this past week. Actually she's WAY more than a friend...she's my adopted big sister, my mentor, my encourager, my advice giver, my "who I'd like to be when I grow up" friend. I hope each one of you have one of those!

Like I said on my last post, still photos just don't do these cards justice. Maybe next time I'll have figured out how to upload videos to this little blog!

So far, on the two I've made I've just added patterned paper and then embellished. I think the next one I make I might try using stamps and paint to decorate with instead of PP. Just a thought...

Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend. I'm heading into the craft room for some fun right now!

A Little Craftiness...and a Youtube plug

So, it's been a while since I posted anything "crafty". It's not that I haven't BEEN crafting, I just have a really old camera and the whole "take the picture, upload the picture, edit the picture, put the picture on blog" process is not very easy. BUT, my daughter (REALLY, what would we do without our children?!) recently purchased an iPOD with saved up birthday and holiday $$ and boy can that little thing take pictures! The pictures are WAY clearer than with my old camera and upload is a breeze! She'd been wanting one for quite a while and I had been quite adament about talking her out of it; I just didn't get the hype. (first sign you've crossed over and become an "adult"...not getting the new techy-hype!) Now I want one of MY OWN! That little sliver of goodness can do SO MUCH! But for now, she's still young enough that she doesn't mind sharing with Mama so my pocketbook can breathe a sigh of relief. (for now.)
So, on to the crafts! (and pictures)

Here is a picture of one of those never ending cards...have you seen one??? You GOTTA see one! They are A.MA.ZING!!! The picture really won't do it justice 'cause it's an interactive card so once you finish reading this blog post (you wouldn't run out on me, would you?) pop over to this youtube video by Christie and she'll show you all how to do it. It's SO easy and you will amaze your friends. Trust me. I went to a church picnic last week and took this very girlfriends couldn't keep their hands off it! It's really a card to play with over and over and over.

Another awesome project I found on youtube...wait, let's take a moment here and pause for a commercial on youtube.

I mean, is it just me, or has your craftiness gone up a notch since discovering all the "this is how you do it" videos on youtube??!! Things I could never dream of creating before are popping out left and right around my craftroom now! I watch an awesome video at night before going to bed, dream about the possibilities and then the next morning it's, WHAM, BAM, thank you MA'AM...I've created something! It really is totally cool.

Now, back to our regularly scheduled blog post.
So, here's the other's a mini album (sooooooo getting addicted to these!) made completely out of cardstock. I knowwwww, right??!! Who doesn't have a stash of cardstock AND even the beginner crafter can slap some adhesive on, fold some cardstock and attach together. And WA-LA, you, too, can have a mini album just that FAST! Here's the totally awesome youtube video I found for this project. The crafter's name in the video is Loretta and she explains the project SO WELL! I'm not always the best at measuring and seeing how a finished project was put together but she breaks it down step by step beautifully! Thanks, Loretta!

My Simple Woman's Daybook Entry: 4/17/2012

I am wondering...if today is the day I'll feel motivated enough to tackle re-organizing my craft room. I found a great idea online for re-arranging the furniture and now just need to DO IT! I found my inspiration at Megan Elizabeth's FB (Above Rubies Studio) page. I'm going to move my desk away from the wall like she did to maximize my work space.

Outside my's a slightly breezy Spring morning. Chilly weather moved in overnight; it's 59 degrees.

I am thinking...about what I'm going to fix for supper. Time to lay something out to thaw.

I am thankful Heavenly Father's provision in all circumstances.

From the kitchen...Emily made some yummy blueberry muffins last night. She is becoming quite the baker!

I am creating...gotta finish a friend's birthday gift today. It's just about done but I need to pick up a specific color ribbon to finish it off.

I am a friend's house on Wednesday to let Emily go horseback riding. She's a tad excited!

I am praying...for wisdom for hubby and I to know what to do as far as his job. He lost his job last week and he is really wanting to go into business for himself. This requires me to step WAY out of my comfort zone; if I could just be sure that it is the Heavenly Father's will for our lives I could go into it with peace.

I am hearing...the sounds of Leave it to Beaver on the TV. We are streaming it over Neflix. What a great oldie goldie!

Word from Scripture..."who comforts us in all our affliction so that we will be able to comfort those who are in any affliction with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God."2 Corinthians 1:4
