Card for a Soon to be Soldier

Here's a quick card I made for the son of a good friend of mine. He recently joined the Army and is just about finished with boot camp. I'm so very proud of him and also very grateful to him and all the other men and women who bravely serve our country each and every day.

Supplies Used:
  • Cardstock
  • Eyelets
  • Recollections Stickers
  • Sharpie Pen

Techniques Used:
  • Faux Stitching
  • Fussy Cutting (I cut the star stickers out of a border sticker; then I used baking soda on the back to "de-sticky" them so I could add dimensionals)

Note: This card is an abnormal size (7x4) so I didn't have an envelope to fit it. I watched a video on youtube that explained how to make your own card for any size card. (really! what did we ever do without youtube!!!) Very helpful! I can see myself using this technique over and over. I get bored making things "standard" all the time!

  5. Great card! I end up making my own envelopes a lot too. I think it makes it even more special though. Good tip with the baking soda!
